As I began creating the Hanging By A Thread series, a theme surfaced into how we are each so distinctive and divergent but must endeavor to get along to survive. The layers and layers of fabrics on each square represent the depth of individual personalities and the size of the squares, naturally, speaks for each of our physical differences and how we are respectively so unique. The threads are our connectors as each thread shows us how delicate and tenuous our relationships can be. These threads alone are thin and vulnerable but together each stitch strengthens and builds on the next for the durability of the art just as in relationships and communities for the greater good of the world. For me, those threads tangled and hanging represents how communication can sometimes be so difficult and stressful. We need each other to survive and our differences are paramount for that continuity. Diversity creates opportunities for a society to grow in character, education, and social norms, and to allow our humanity to prosper. My exclusive lucite hanging rod is designed to hang the art away from the wall giving the art a 3D effect.
